i love this guy 60% of every video is him rolling around on the floor screaming while his camera guy goes “hey….. u ok?” then 5 minutes later he gets up and is like “ok folks, there u have it, the Satan DeathRay Fire Monster actually does cause pain when it bites u. science is great”
To be fair, this is actually a really good way of getting kids to realize that these animals really are dangerous, and he goes through the first aid either on the same video or in a follow up video (if it’s something complicated). IIRC, the whole reason he started doing videos like this was because while he was in Montana or something he saw a lot of Facebook posts about people whose dogs had gotten too close to a porcupine and they didn’t know how to remove the quills, so he (naturally) went into the woods, found a porcupine, quilled himself and filmed himself taking the quills out and explaining what he was doing.
He’s still fucking insane, but, you know, it’s for a good cause
He’s living his best life, his job is getting hurt on camera and educating others on how to be safe. And he clearly loves his job.
i witnessed the most fascinating thing today imo…my 4th grade art class were talking while they did their work and one of them was like “if you work hard all your life…….it means NOTHING” and their response was to all crack up and start running with this bit like. “you work all your life on an oil painting. the mayor comes in. he says ‘i didn’t even ask you to do that painting.’” they kept going giving examples of nothing mattering and laughing hysterically. they’re 9. like, we think OUR humor is depressing or w/e, how are THEY going to be
Millennials are depressed but the Gen Z kids are straight up nihilists
Let’s talk about the fabulous aromantics out there

December 15 2019 - The UFCβs biggest MAGA piece of shit (other than president Dana White) Colby Covington just had a title fight against Nigerian immigrant champion Kamaru Usman. During the fight Colby got his jaw broken, got knocked out in the last round and then proceeded to literally run away during the champβs victory announcement. [video]/[video]/[video]
βThis fight is greater than me just beating up a guy thatβs talking a lot of shit. This fight means a lot to me, so when I get a chance to put my hands on this guy letβs just know itβs the wrath of every single immigrant that has stepped foot in this country.β - Kamaru Usman
Today, Amazon announced the imminent launch of its newest endeavor, Kindle Worlds, a publishing platform for fanfiction. When I read the announcement, I was horrified, then angry, then sad. I want to take a moment to explain why this is such a tragedy.
This is REALLY IMPORTANT guys. AO3 is so special as a platform. Don’t get suckered in by shiny features or whatever!
If you don’t feel like reading after the read more, here is the most important stand out of Kindle World’s TOS.
“By using the platform, authors give all rights to the work to Amazon, who can then license your elements to other authors with no compensation to the original poster.”
If you want to retain rights to your work, don’t use this site. Stick to AO3.

People who like rocks see cool rocks everywhere. People who like birds see interesting birds everywhere. The tree on your yard could be an exceptional specimen. The world around you could be amazing and magical, but you aren’t enough of a nerd to see it.
I gave my mum Alexandra Horowitz’s On Looking: Eleven Walks Through Expert Eyes for her birthday this year, it’s a book that revolves around this idea: the author invites 11 specialists in different things to walk around a boring city block with her one after the other so they can point out to her the things they see, that she doesn’t notice. There’s an expert in typography talking about what the variety of fonts on urban signs can tell you about the city’s history, an entomologist pointing out all the urban insects no one pays attention to, a geologist, a sound engineer…
See this is what I mean by “there are more wonders in this world than you can ever dream of and all you need to do is listen to its stories and see it’s magic. ”
I don’t reblog much but this is so much part of my life. Our parents took us for walks and showed us the plants, the rocks, the birds, animals, lichens, mushrooms, anything we found, and they knew the names of most of them. They made it seem fun to learn more. Their families had taught them the same way. And they taught us about art, literature, music, and more so we were able to find delight in most of the world around us without needing to have a lot of money. It was the biggest gift they gave us: wonder.
